Shocking Events
Second shocker- Jack put on his coat without a fight! Twice.
Third shocking thing- Jack ate carrots. Sure they were only tiny slivers in his soup, but still, Jack ate them... AND he said he liked them.
He MUST be sick.

Davis Farmland
At the farm, they made a bunch of new friends:

They even got to brush a bunny and some of the goats; including a couple of day old babies, (but not including the flying goat.) Jack really enjoyed chasing petting the goats. At one point, he actually picked up one of the babies and tossed gently placed it back into its house.

Jackson, Jack, Annabelle, and Grace, all waited patiently for a ride on the pony. Until they got to the front of the line... and argued about who would go first, second, third, and fourth. Luckily, everyone got a chance to be first in line!
This was Jack's first pony ride!
Before heading home, we stopped across the way at the apple orchard and did some apple picking. It was late in the day, about an hour before closing, and the orchard was completely empty!

First Day Of School

Back To School
Jack jumped right in there and made himself at home, quickly finding a bin of cars and dumping it all over the floor. He seemed pretty comfortable- he's used to going to the school from last year when we took Annabelle, he also already knows the teacher and a handful of the kids in his class. So no separation anxiety there... He didn't even notice when Nick and I left the room! His teacher said that he did great- she told us that he built an impressive block tower, which Jack claims was knocked over by "a fresh boy called, Chris." I don't remember a Chris in his class, but I will be sure to pay attention next time. As we were leaving, Jack grabbed my hand and said, "I had a good time at school."
Annabelle, of course, walked in like she owned the place. Nick brought her to her classroom and was supposed to stay with her for a bit, but he appeared in Jack's classroom after only two minutes. I guess Annabelle waved him off... She was so very busy catching up with her friends and just too cool for parents!
The real first day is on Wednesday... Maybe I can get a better picture of the two of them together then.

A Beachy Day
As an added bonus, the beach was pretty much empty for most of the day. It wasn't until late afternoon when it started to get slightly crowded, filling up with the after school crowd and early work ditchers. But, by then it was time to head home...

My Husband, The Farmer
Certainly not I!
No, no. I was a bit skeptical.
But alas, the boy tilled his soil, and planted his seeds.
Some didn't survive (like the pea plants), as they were without water for a week while we were away...
But surprisingly, others did (like these here carrots).
And there it is, living proof;
I was wrong.
Blocks
Jack put this little set up togther. When I first saw it, I was shocked that he was playing with just the blocks... Then of course, I noticed the car- there is always a car.

Comedy Central
Annabelle slowly enters the room, wearing a STETHOSCOPE around her neck. She looks around, then purposefully walks over to Jack:
I'm the Doctor and you're the patient.
Jack glances towards the exit. He realizes that Annabelle is blocking his only way out. He has a look of uncertaintly.
JACK
Um, OK
ANNABELLE
What seems to be the problem, boy?
JACK
Doctor, I ammmmm... well, I'm a bit smelly.
Laughter can be heard from the corner.

Traumatizing The Boy
We had walked to a playground, about a mile from home, when Jack suddenly announced that he "had to go pee." There was no facility within a half mile and, judging by the urgency in his voice and the fact that we were on foot, I knew that he would never make it. So I surveyed the area and dragged Jack over to the nearest bush.
When I told Jack he would have to pee outside he initially refused to do it, claiming that peeing in a bush is "yucky." I quickly pointed out that it was either the bush or his pants, either way he had to make a decision and live with it.
He chose the bush.
After the fact, while I was pushing him on a swing, I had to listen to him complain about how yucky peeing in a bush is...
"I can't pee in a bush, that is so yucky. Bushes are not for peeing, they are for squirrels. I'm not a squirrel, I don't use a bush!! You made me pee outside!! I peed outside!! That is sooooo yucky!! You can't pee outside, how are you supposed to flush? Where does the pee go? There is no way to flush! Squirrels need to pee outside. Squirrels don't flush?"
On and on he went.
For the next 20 minutes.
Until finally, acceptance settled in.
And peeing outside was suddenly cool.
And then he told me that when he got home he was going to pee on the tree in front of our house... The one with the sticky sap.

Basketball Girl
New Toy!
Very exciting, I know... BUT, I just ordered it YESTERDAY afternoon, from Amazon.com, so I am excited that it is here so quickly! I signed up for amazon's prime membership, which is good for a one month free trial, and got free overnight shipping! I ended up getting the 7 million dollar home by Crumpler. So far, I'm very happy with the bag- much larger than I need right now, as I only have a couple of lenses, but there is definitely room to grow!!

Graffiti Artists
Jack: Look Annabelle, Mommy is going to be so happy at us!!
Annabelle: Really?
Jack: Yes, Annabelle! Mommy will be very happy at us!!!
Annabelle: OK Jack, hand me some chalk.
Annabelle: She sure will be so proud of us!
Jack: Uuuuh-haaaa! She will be so proud and happy at us!!
When I went to investigate, this is what I found:
They were so excited to show me how they had decorated the bricks, I was not so proud of them, nor was I happy at them, but still, I could not help but smile.

Swimming Lessons
They both absolutely LOVED it!
I was a little apprehensive about Jack going at first, as he sometimes likes to do things his way, but he did great! He is such a big kid now- it's kind of scary how much he has grown up in the past few months.
